Welcome from the Congress President

After the successful first European Congress of Medical Physics 2016  in Athens, it is my pleasure to welcome all the European Medical Physicists attending the second ECMP 2018 in Copenhagen.

Bridging knowledge across specialties, not only is the motto of the Congress but also among the main reasons to participate in this scientific initiative.

Sharing ideas between medical physics specialists, is the key of our increasing role in the research and in clinical practice. This will be the focus of the scientific program of the Congress.

Besides our scientific program, I hope you enjoy your visit to Copenhagen, which is full of attractions, from historical architecture to the modern Opera House. You will still be able to enjoy the summer period and take a river cruise in a city which is completely surrounded by the sea.

I would like to express my thanks to the Danish Society for Medical Physics and the Swedish Hospital Physicists Association for hosting the event in excellent facilities of the and to their Presidents Klaus Seiersen and Marie-Louise Aurumskjöld.

Welcome from the Local Organizing Committee

Bridging knowledge across specialties

The purpose of the 2nd European Congress of Medical Physics is to connect the medical physics specialties and create a common forum for networking, sharing knowledge, and focusing on the physics within the field of medicine. The 1st ECMP Congress had 650 participants from all over Europe. We expect at least this number in Copenhagen.

The ECMP embraces the science across our clinical subspecialties. The congress will facilitate the synergy between industry, research, and clinical practice that ultimately leads to improvements in health care.

The medical physics societies in Denmark and Sweden are jointly hosting this main biennial EFOMP event. Medical physics has a strong and longstanding tradition in both countries with pioneering contributions having been made in nuclear medicine, diagnostic radiology, radiation dosimetry, and radiation therapy physics. In addition, both countries share a long history of successful commercialization of medical physics technologies and conceptual advances over the years.
We look forward to ECMP 2018 ensuring that the distinguished past record of medical physics in Europe and beyond will be carried forward into the future.

The main congress will take place 23-25 August 2018. Pre-courses and the Town Hall welcome reception will take place on 22 August. We hope you will join us for ECMP 2018 at the birthplace of quantum mechanics at the H.C. Ørsted Institute in Copenhagen.
